During an August 24, 2008, interview on NBC's Meet the Press, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi misrepresented the history and authority of Church teaching concerning abortion. Bishops from across the country have responded to the speaker, and upheld the Church's constant teaching that procured abortion is a grave moral evil.
