Register to Vote

Places and Ways to Register to Vote

The voter registration deadline for the 2010 primary elections in Tuesday, August 24. The voter registration deadline for the 2010 general elections is Tuesday, October 12.

* Download a voter registration (English, Spanish), fill it out, sign it, return to the Board of Elections.
* Visit your local Board of Elections
* Request an application from the State Board of Elections by calling 410-269-2840 or toll free at 800-222-8683
* Pick up an application at the Motor Vehicle Administration, the state Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the state Department of Social Services, higher education institutions, or marriage license offices

Requirements to Register

* Be a U.S. citizen;
* Be a Maryland resident;
* Be at least 18 years old by the next general election (* you may register to vote if you are at least 16 years old, but cannot vote unless you will be at least 18 years old by the next general election);
* Not be under guardianship for mental disability;
* Not have been convicted of buying or selling votes;
* Not have been convicted of a felony, or if you have, you have completed serving a
court ordered sentence of imprisonment, including any term of parole or probation
for the conviction.
