Maryland Unaccompanied Homeless Youth and Young Adult Count Demonstration Project

Support House Bill 794

House Appropriations Committee

March 4, 2014

HB 794 would conduct data collection and analysis to determine the number and characteristics of unaccompanied homeless youth and young adults in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel and Wicomico counties.

The Catholic Church believes decent, safe, and affordable housing is a human right. The Church urges communities and the government to acknowledge the obligation of ensuring society’s housing needs are met, especially for poor and vulnerable people and their families. By learning the root causes of homelessness, Maryland can better provide housing solutions for those in need.

For these reasons, we respectfully urge a favorable report.
