The Maryland Catholic Conference joins Catholics across Maryland in congratulating Bishop William Lori as the next Archbishop of Baltimore and in warmly welcoming him back to Maryland where he had served as auxiliary bishop for several years in the Archdiocese of Washington.
Archbishop-designate Lori has distinguished himself over the years as a leader on many fronts including religious liberty, marriage, respect for life, education and the protection of children. The Conference has been blessed to work for Archbishop-designate Lori on these issues during his time in the Archdiocese of Washington and through his leadership at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
We look forward to reintroducing him to Annapolis and Maryland’s government leaders as we continue to stand strong in the public square and speak out for the vulnerable and all those in need.
Maryland Catholic Conference advocates for the Church's public policy positions before the Maryland General Assembly and other civil officials. The Conference represents all three dioceses with territory in the state – the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the Archdiocese of Washington, and the Diocese of Wilmington.
