Child Protection

The Church and the 3 Maryland-serving dioceses are committed to keeping children safe. The Conference supports legislation that protects children in their homes, at their schools and in their communities.

During the 2010 legislative session, the Conference is supporting several child protection measures, including Senate Bill 61 and Senate Bill 360. SB 61extends criminal background check requirements to additional entities serving children, including private recreational centers and programs. Read the Conference's testimony on SB 61. SB 360 expands the list of student offenses of which school personnel can be notified.
